My system consists of A Mac IIcx, 80MB HDSC internal, 160MB HDSC external, 8MB RAM. Each of the times I have installed A/UX on the system the following scenarion has occurred. I go through the installation procedures, login as root, add a root password, etc. This works fine and I get into the A/UX system. After I logout and try to log in again, I'll get the login prompt, enter root and the password and the system will sit for about 2 minutes. There i ssome SCSI activity at the geinning and then a gap of a minute or more, and then the login prompt returns. Putting me into an endless cycle. Once ina while I have been able to get in via the Guest account, I looked around at things like the password file and things appear okay. Often the smae thing happens with the Guest account as with root. I have been using Unix systems for years and never had a problem such as this, does anyone else out there have clue. Thanks in advance. Chris -- - - terse, graphically uninteresting, .signature follows: - - Christopher C. Wilder-Smith - The MITRE Corporation - cws@mbunix.mitre.org -
