There i ssome I too have experinced this, and have seen references to it by someone else on the net. I reported this to Apple in the first 30 days of free telephone "help" (I use the term loosely). They never got back to me with a fix. I have found that hitting the return key a few times will usually get you logged in (and paint the top of the screen with trash.) Someone else suggested typing command ".". Have you hacked any .profiles to do any prompting? Someone suggested it might be hung waiting for you to type something, but you never saw the propmt. a.schnable@att.com
