Doesn't sound likely. Mostly because the SR-71's low-level performance isn't likely to be much better than a number of other aircraft. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, there was quite a bit of low-level recce flying going on, mostly with RF-101s. Wouldn't be suprised if JFK OK'd doing something of the sort then, or that such activity wasn't the germ behind the story. -- ------------ The only drawback with morning is that it comes at such an inconvenient time of day. ------------
