R. Germany Lines: 32 Hello! Could anybody give me hints on or references to downloadable chinese fonts for Macintosh-compatible Laser Printers? I am using Apple's chinese system software (to be precise: version 6.0.3 with the simplified chinese characters as used in the People's Republic of China, which is different from the taiwanese version (traditional characters)) and Nisus Text Editor to generate bilingual (german/chinese) text documents. The system software comes along with a bitmap font (Beijing) of simplified characters, but the print quality of bitmapped chinese characters on an ordinary LaserWriter II NTX is miserable and not acceptable for generating print masters for publishing. Wanted, but not vital, is also any downloadable font for the Pinyin Transcription of chinese language. Pinyin uses roman characters and four special accents on vocals. These accents are: the french accent grave and accent aigue, a reflected accent circonflex and a horizontal bar. Since these accents may occur on every vocal in lower- and uppercase, a Pinyin font for the Mac requires 40 different vocal characters, which are only partly covered by any standard Mac font. Thank you in advance for any useful hint. Erich Rome eric@gmdzi.uucp Bonn West Germany
