I'm not able to give any official statement, but unoffically, there is
no protection on the name POSIX.  IEEE had it trademarked for a while
but relinquished the trademark at the request of ISO.

However, any attempt to trademark POSIX for commercial purposes will
trigger a strong reaction.   (It should stay "free".)
