If you are referring to the 'muddiness' of graphic output, this is due (mostly) to the preferences driver for the Deskjet. There are a couple of commercially available replacement drivers which will help considerably, as will using a GOOD quality laser bond paper (I use Boise Cascade, with outstanding results).
