I obtained Kermit in the C version tailored for Apollos from the ADUS
archives.  After considerable experimentation and examination, I still can't
make it do what I need.  Here's a transcript of a session showing the
parameter settings and the problem of not being able to use kermit because
the line is not a typewriter (?!?):

I _can_ use essentially the same version of Kermit on our campus HP mainframe
running HPUX.  The parameter settings are the same, in particular the
line and the speed settings.  I figure I must be doing something wrong
which is specific to Apollos, so I address my question to fellow Apollonians.
I am using a DN3500 under 10.2(BSD).
Can somebody set me straight?  Thanks!
