I have the manual "Using the Open Systems Toolkit to Extend the Streams
Facility",
order number 008863, and found it to be excellent.  Working straight from the
manual I was able to implement a compressed text file type, and it was able
to interact with Aegis commands and the compilers quite well.  The unix 
'cat' command wouldn't deal with it, however.
