However, it is a genuine Apple product. Is your IIe enhanced? I'm no expert on this, but I believe I recall reading of similar problems faced by users of unenhanced IIe models. I use an enhanced IIe with a 1200 buad datalinker modem and have not experienced the loss of characters you described.
