If you got them from tybalt.caltech.edu then they are all text-encoded (with binscii) so you should have no problems downloading them but they will need to be decoded before you can use them. If you are trying to move a binary file around, type "binary" in FTP _before_ you issue the "get"; FTP will move the raw file without trying to interpret it as text. You can also specify binary tranfers between your acount and Proterm; I use kermit so somebody else can take that one. Hope this helps Todd Whitesel toddpw @ tybalt.caltech.edu
