From past experience (hi Gerry!) the problem might be that the Mac is looking at what would be the ST partition table and getting mighty confused. I guess that is where some improtant mac info is kept. I know you can install Mac hard drives into your system and have Spectre recognize them so that's an idea. I guess once Dave implements CHANGING of Syquest drives then you'd be able to take a mac formatted cart and possibly insert into Spectre (changing doesn't work, right?).
