The concensus is that an XT as is cannot handle a high-density floppy drive. You can, however, buy an inexpensive controller card that actually contains a new bit of ROM that inserts itself whenever the drive is used, and then you *can* run 1.2 MB drives. Price estimates ranged from $35 to $50 for the controller card.
