The word processor document files you are dealing with should be transferred as binary files (not ascii text) so you have to make sure that your communication software on the Mac, the UNIX and DOS machines are set to send and receive binary. The other thing that might help is to give up trying to do anything with Mac WordPerfect 1.0.5 until version 2.0 comes out ;-).
