Configuration: Mac SE upgraded to 2.5m, Sys 6.03 (I think) Last night, the mac would not start up: sad mac code 0000000E, 000000FF. (Data bus failure, right?) I used to get this top line occasionally, but this is the first time since I replaced the 1 meg SIMMS. And it had a different bottom line. This morning, the machine starts up fine, (in Multifinder, BTW). I go to About Multifinder to check the memory. Total memory is fine, but the system heap number is switching between (I think) 561 K and 565 K. (Whatever the actual numbers were, I am sure it was a 4K block). The "largest available block" was increasing and decreasing as well (every 2 seconds or so). I could not investigate further, as I had to come to work. Are the problems related? In any case, what's the deal, particularly on the second. I am pretty computer and mac literate, but haven't used multifinder much, so the system heap business has me a bit puzzled in general. Many thanks. E-mail encouraged. Chris Holoman Dept. of Political Science University at Buffalo PSCCHRIS@ubvms.cc.buffalo.edu pscchris@ubvms.bitnet
