With regards to the bigletter macro: I would like to put the
first few words after the bigletter in small caps, but if I try to do it
TeX decides to typeset my entire document in small caps.

 | HIS IS what I would like to do blah blah blah blah blah
 | blah blah ...
blah blah blah ...

But what I get is
___
 | HIS IS WHAT ... etc
 | BLAH BLAH ...
BLAH BLAH BLAH ...

with this input:

\bigfirstletter
T {\sc HIS IS} what I ...


So... what's going on?? I don't have the time to unhack the macro
and figure it out (it's not exactly a pressing problem for me), but
it would be nice to be able to do this!
