Kemmish) Organization: The Direct Connection, UK Lines: 24 I'm just porting X11r4 to use the GX graphics accelerator on a SS1 (or is it GFX? - it's a cg6 framebuffer anyway!). It works really well, but there are a couple of minor questions: 1) The THC appears to support a hardware cursor, but I can't find any way to set the cursor colormap. Am I limited to black and white, or do I have to wiggle the Brooktree's control lines myself, or is there a civilised way to do it? 2) Looking at the register names, it *looks* as if I'm actually talking to the alpha-planes of a 32-plane display. Was the chipset designed with decent colour displays in mind? Is such a framebuffer on the cards? A machine the price of a SS1 (plus a little but for the extra VRAMS) with *real*, *accelerated* colour would be a VERY attractive proposition..... PS: After this, comes the research 3D window manager... Anyone with any experience of talking to the transform engine? -- Ian D.
