Subject: How to close a display with Xt

My problem is the following:

I connect to a display (XtOpenDisplay()), realize a widget there and
destroy it when I'm done with it. So far no problems. Now I want to close
the display with XtCloseDisplay(). It seems to do what it is supposed to
but I get the message "Error: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource
denied)".

Could someone please shed some light on what this means?

Disclaimer: I am new to Xlib and Xt programming.
