After all this discussion about voltage quintuplers and the
like, an old project has resurfaced inside my head. Could 
anyone tell me where to get a schematic for a BATTERY powered
laser supply? (or email, whatever.) I would want this to run
a typical 2(or so)mw HeNe red visible laser tube.

Apologies if this has been discussed, I just started reading this 
group.

Also, in the 'next month' column of 9/90 Radio Electronics, they
mentioned that they were going to have a article about building 
a battery powered visible semiconductor laser.  However, these require
a lens, no? and what kind of power and beam divergence can you
expect to get out of these with a semi-inexpensive lens?
