I live in a women's residence at school, next door to a fraternity. If I am planning to go to the movies with a few of the next-door residents, I say I'm going out "with the guys". However, I have trouble using that word describing mixed or all-female groups. "Girl" is _quite_ insulting -- I'd never say I'm going to the movies "with the boys". "Women" is just a bit too stuffy to describe a bunch of mellow college students. Any suggestions??? [In my circles, "guys" is generally considered gender neutral. This appears not to be true everywhere. -MHN]
