Postdoctoral Position Open

Molecular Neurogenetic Study of the
Drosophila Chemosensory (smell and taste) Systems.

Taipei, Taiwan, Rep. of China

My lab has taken several approaches to study the chemosensory systems of
Drosophila, with the aim of identifying the genes involved in their function
and development. (1) Using behavior assays, we have isolated several olfactory
and several taste mutants. These mutations are now being characterized. They
were induced by P element insertional mutagenesis, so cloning the corresponding
genes should be relatively easy. (2) Using differential screening, we have
isolated a few cDNA clones preferentially expressed in the antennae, the
olfactory organ. One of these has been sequenced and is found to be a novel
gene. More characterization are underway. (3) We are screening for monoclonal
antibodies specific for antennal antigens.
