Cleveland, Ohio, (USA) Lines: 20 This discussion of programming language design brings to mind an excellent book I came across in the library, entitled "Programming Languages: A Grand Tour". It was published, I believe, by the ACM, but I do not have any other publication information. This book gathers together many historically important papers on programming language design and on the programming languages themselves. To some extent, it serves as an introduction to the philosophic issues that dictate the design of a particular programming language. Herman Rubin may find this book to be quite eye-opening, as I did. (It also put me on an Algol-60 kick that I haven't yet managed to overcome...) -- Stephen Trier Case Western Reserve University Work: trier@cwlim.ins.cwru.edu Information Network Services Home: sct@seldon.clv.oh.us
