We have a DEC system 5400 running Ultrix 3.1C. We are on the Internet and have things configured so that mail to the address user@du.edu goes to the 5400. The 5400's name is diana.cair.du.edu. We also have a VMS cluster with several thousand users that also want to be able to tell others that thier address is user@du.edu. Currently, several of the VMS users have gotten accounts on diana and then set up a .forward to the VMS cluster. Would it be better to put them all in /usr/lib/aliases or keep the .forward scheme? Is there any difference in performance in sendmail when it is searching a large alias file or the password file? Please reply to mbrookov@du.edu or this news group. Thanks. -- Matthew B.
