I just installed version 2.1c of Microsoft Excel, the one that is supposed to work with Windows 3.0. I have Windows 3.0 installed and have had no trouble with it. I have installed Excel in the same directory as Windows, and it is definitely in my DOS path. Now the problem -- when I run Excel all looks fine except for a couple of things: 1) When you select any of the items on the Help menu, the disk drive crunches away for a short while and then you are returned to the worksheet as though nothing was requested of it. Pretty cocky behaviour for an application in my opinion. :) 2) When entering formulas it will invariably cough out a ERROR IN FORUMLA error if you start entering a second parameter for the formula -- regardless of whether you are selecting cells by mouse or typing in the vector by hand. Specifically, bith of these give me an error at the first comma: =LOOKUP(B4,C1:C20,D1:D20) =SUM(B1:B5,B12:B16,B19:B21) but the problem is by no means restricted to these examples -- any multi-parameter formula chokes. My hardware is a C&T 386 25 motherboard with 4 megs memory and a 287 math chip. Is the 287 the culprit here? I notice that Excel checks fo a coprocessor, so maybe it doesn't know that a 386 can have a 287 in it?
