I'm trying to get more details directly from the guy with the problem; in the meantime, i'd appreciate any help anyone can offer.) The systems: VAX 8600, 8700, 6400 all running UNIX System V, release 5.2.2 HSC controller, 8mm tape drive They are able to read and write single-file tapes OK. Their problem (apparently) is that forward-space-file operations fail. Anybody out there have any experience with the above configuration? I've never had problems with multiple files on 8mm tapes, but my experience is limited to SunOS-based systems with the tape drives hanging off a SCSI bus.
