A special cable, well... yes. The main reasons are a different sex DB-25 connector (from an IBM-PC) on the back of the A1000 for the parallel port and there are some wires that need to be cut and one or two that need to be moved around. I have a wiring diagram if your friend is handy with making cables. Else I'm sure a local store that handles Amiga can sell/cobble one up for you. If all else fails call Redmond Cable.
