Some (*other* 8-)) HP person claimed that the ST's parallel port was joke after some people's soundchips burned up, trying to drive the deskjet too quickly (graphics?), over, perhaps, too much cable. The solution was reported to be the addition of heavy duty TTL line drivers inside the ST end of a parallel cable. Don't blame me, I just remember this, and don't have a deskjet yet - looks *much* better to me now though!
