I am running a 33447A LJ-IID via 375/parallel, and a 33440A LJ-II via HP-IB/Centronics converter. The parallel port on the Models 345, 375 and the Series 400 will be fully supported in HP-UX release 8.0 (driver, spooler models, documentation). The driver (only) for that port will be available in release 7.05. For releases 7.0 and 7.03, there is an unsupported patch and documentation available through your local HP support representative. Have that person contact me. The 3x5/400 parallel interface is compatible with most* Centronics printers, and has bi-directional capability for the HP ScanJets (the ScanJets do not work with the released version of the 7.0 parallel driver). In addition, any HP 9000 system can connect parallel printers via an HP-IB to Centronics converter. The suggested solution is to use the following third-party product. Intelligent Interfaces Inc PO Box 1486 Stone Mountain, GA 30086-1486 1-800-842-0888 1. 51-6200 MicroPrint 45C 199.00 2. 52-2208 10foot Centronics cable 30.00 3. Shipping & handling 5.00 _______ Note: These prices may not be current 234.00 There is also a DIO-I/O card available from a third-party (IEM), which is Centronics at the cover-plate and 98626A (tty) at the backplane. It works, but is very inefficient and has very high system overhead. It also works with ScanJet, and 'iomap' code is available to drive it. IEM also offers an HP-IB/Centronics converter of their own design. We are investigating. This response does not represent the official position of, or statement by, the Hewlett-Packard Company. The above data is provided for informational purposes only.
