Apologies if this is an inappropriate newsgroup - if it is, information telling me where to go would also be helpful! :-) ============QUESTION=============== I have noticed that the boot file IO.SYS (or IBMBIO.COM) contains large 'blank' areas consisting of long strings of zero bytes. Can anybody out there tell me: 1) what these blank areas are for. 2) do all IO.SYS or IBMBIOS.COM files contain them. 3) is it safe to alter them; ie. store data/code in them. I am interested in writing a short modification to the boot routine & these 'blank' areas would seem like a convenient place to put it; ===================END======================
