2401 is a monitor/video board failure.  The 01 means general failure, and
the 24 is obviously the VGA.  A friend of mine has a multi-sync, and he
gets this error occasionally.  If you have a true-blue 8530 monitor, then
the error should be with the VGA controller on your motherboard.  I doubt
the monitor would be defective.
