Two lines appear, one ~1 cm from the top and one the same distance from the bottom. The overall effect lasts for a couple seconds and disappears. The problem reappears every 30 sec or so when cold. Just so I have an idea before taking it in, could it be the power supply, analog board, or what? A friend of mine has a 3 year old SE exhibiting the same problem. Is this a fairly common problems for macs or SE's? And finally, is the mac warrenty one year? I remember a bunch of PR about this at the beginning of the year but the documents with my machine said 90 days (I think). Is it really a year? (Either way I'm covered.)
