One solution, if you don't mind the possibility of someone getting out of HyperCard to the Finder, is have HyperCard start through set startup on the special menu. Or, through use of a global variable, you can have HyperCard remember whether Word was launched previously, and/or whether that document was edited. If no other script than that button is involved, I'm confused also.
