No one uses the information field (which could be used to describe the file contents), and no one seems to know why they don't. Except ... I've heard that what is entered in an information field can be deleted during certain sytem maintenance operations (like rebuilding the System). Before I waste any time filling in hundreds of information fields here with file-descriptor information, could anyone fill me in on the durability and permanence of information fields.
