Root) Organization: The Internet Lines: 18 xdm -server "ncdxt1:0 NCD-19 foreign" I indeed get communication between the DECstation and the NCD, plus a logon window on the NCD, but I cannot login, probably because I keep getting multiple copies of xdm running, each of which puts a new logon\ window onto the NCD. It's extremely difficult to diagnose xdm problems unless you provide a fair amount of information. Where are you running xdm from? What release of xdm is it? What do your configuration files look like? Does your NCD have XDMCP enabled? Have you tried running xdm with the -debug 9 option and looked at the trace? Such a trace can be very helpful in figuring out problems. If I had to guess, I'd guess that you have XDMCP enabled in your NCD. In that case, you don't want to list the terminal as a server at all, just run xdm and let the NCD auto-connect to it. If that's the wrong guess, then trace and other information would be useful.
