Some weeks ago, on comp.sources.x, 
ntakahas@is.tsukuba.ac.jp posted a patch 
for the X server to support Sun CG[89] 
24-bit colour boards.

I've been unable to install it because of 
of the patch (some hunks) failing.  I guess
our X source is at a different patchlevel 
from what is expected.

We have installed all 14 X11R4 "fixes".  
Has anyone successfully installed this 
24-bit colour X server patch?  At what 
patchlevel of the X4 fixes?  

If needed, can I just roll back our X source 
to a lower patchlevel with "patch -R", or
are there complications?
