At the last general meeting of Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, the president of the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory gave a presentation on his organization. One of their projects is a Fall Migration Count which is going on now at a place they call Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands. Maybe you could hang out with them now or get in and help next year as a volunteer. If you want to get in touch with them I'd try directory assistance for the city of S.F. or call SCVAS or SFBBO.
