Myth is a screen oriented game like rogue and moria, which implies that you can not use telnet to connect to it. You must use the myth client which are part of the myth distribution. You can ftp myth from "scam.berkeley.edu" (128.32.138.1) in the "src/games/myth" directory or. If that fails, try iesd.auc.dk (130.225.48.4).
