The AQMD is the Air Quality Management District which spans 4 counties and is concerned with: what else? the air quality (or lack thereof) in the LA metropolitan area. His dilemma is that he needs to choose the "best" dbms to power a new project with the following requirements: Hardware: HP or DG OS: un*x Users: 300 Concurrent Xactions: 75 Another requirement is that he needs to be able to manage image data in a convenient way (blobs of data > 2K). Steve told me that he has already ruled out Oracle, Informix and other c/s dbms's for various reasons. I would like to limit this discussion to the pros and cons of the 2 dbms's previously mentioned, (Sybase,Ingres) if possible, but would like to hear from other dbms users with strong opinions about their system. Please respond by email - Steve will summarize and I will post his summary. Thanks! |------------------------------------------------------------------------| mdiamond@luna.hac.com (213) 414-6414 |------------------------------------------------------------------------|
