Exactly! Sometimes you want it, sometimes it doesn't matter and sometimes you don't want it. BTW, has anyone else noticed that ":w !cmd" doesn't work in elvis although all the other similar commands work? Was this just an oversight or are there really vi's around that don't have the non-subtle difference between :w! file and :w !command?
