I'm trying to configure sendmail 5.1 so I can send mail across ethernet. The host computer is "bert" and the target computer is "ernie." We're running Irix (SGI's SYS V). According to TFM, all I have to do for a direct SMTP connection is add the lines: CSernie CSbert. Unfortunatley when I do this I get a rewrite message: rewrite: expansion too long. I know the hosts file in /etc is OK because I can rlogin to ernie. So I changed the SMTP definition to: FS/etc/mailhosts Still I receive the same message. What obvious and fundamentally stupid thing am I doing! --- chris brougham: sloth.wimsey.bc.ca
