Yes, this is a very well-known bug (feature?) of Clam. However, if you
do
        % alias ls 'ls -l'
        % ls > file &
it works. The same goes for pipes (I think).

If anybody has any ideas on this bug, PLEASE PLEASE email me! I've been
trying to figure this out for nearly a year now, and have given up
twice.
