Running 1.5 with one floppy Message-ID: <90272.113623MRTSI@CUNYVM.BITNET> Date: 29 Sep 90 15:36:23 GMT Organization: City University of New York/ University Computer Center Lines: 15 Supercedes: 90272.045731MRTSI@CUNYVM.BITNET Just got MINIX 1.5 from PH. We have a lab with 386 machines on a network. The computers themselves have no hard disks and only one 3.5 floppy drive. PH shipped 1.5 with /usr binaries on three double density disks. As shipped the whole package now takes 12 DD 3.5 inch disks! I'm trying to run MINIX from the floppies alone - without using the network. I figure if I can pack enough of the binaries on one /usr disk, this might work out OK. So far things seems to be running OK except for the lpr command. I'm able to get some printout by redirecting output to /dev/lp, but I get usage error messages when I try to use lpr. Which binaries do I need to keep on my /usr disk to make lpr work correctly? (or maybe that's not the problem at all ...) Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
