Read up on the guts of the polyFORTH multitasker.  It's a simple, friendly
round robin.

If you have some cash in your budget, call Forth, Inc.  Their current
release has the ability to call C routines from within FORTH words.  So you
could use Forth to "glue" your C together.  If you are familiar with FORTH
already, you could knock this together in about five minutes; if you've never
used FORTH it could take as much as an hour.
