I need to find some low cost ( prefer public domain) communication
filters to run from /etc/printcap and talk to a serial postscript printer.

The filters supplied with Transcript would do the trick but I don't
want to buy Transcript as I also need Documentors Workbench and
Transcript does not come with this.

Solution should

1.  communicate printer status back to lpd so out of paper, etc showes
    with a "lpq" commands.

2.  provide job sync so only one job is downloaded to the printer
    at a time.

3.  provide a way for OUTPUT from printer to be logged to a file
    back on the host.

4.  Put postscript wrapper around plain text queued to printer

We are running SunOS 4.03 and have serial NEC Postscript printers.
