Thanks to all that responded to my above query, especially Edward
Vielmetti and Mark Hahn) . To summarize a2ps can be found in volume10
at any comp.sources.misc archive (i.e.  gatekeeper.dec.com and
uunet.uu.net), and cz in volume8. Mark Hahn also sent me source to
mpage which is a great filter to print multiple PostScript and text
files on a physical page and handles A4 sized paper too.
