Posting for someone else:  There's this fella I know who'd love to get a holt of
some HDLC/LAPB code in order to interface a computer system to a remote
black box via X.25.  The kicker is he wants to do it at Level 2 (without
Level 3/PLP stuff).  The systems he's concerned with are either Motorola
680x0-based or Everex 80x86-based.  The systems interfaces to the wide area
are Motorola and Retix, respectively.  The black box to which these systems may 
communicate does not have Level 3 implemented, so . . .

examples of interfacing any gadgets at Level 2 might help,

Or rumors of any similar activity might help,

Or opinions on the feasibility might help.
