First off I'd like to thank the few people who responded to my query.
about scsi HD controllers with ram expansions on board.

The information that I have come up with is sparse at best.
I came up with 3 products in the class I was looking for.
1) XETEC FASTCARD PLUS
2) A2091
3) GVP IMPACT HC

I am looking in the area of 8 megabytes of memeory and an 80meg HD with
a syquest as secondary storage.  First I found out that my 1.2 ROMS do
not let me autoboot from my HD. So a 30 dollar rom upgrade should help me
there.

I still have questions about the above products.  The Xetec card advertises
the ability to go to 8 megs using 'special' 4MB simms. Are these widely 
available? I dont know anything about the A2091 by CBM. I'd be interested
in finding out some speed benchmarks or comments on any owners of the
above products. And finally, where can I buy an A2091 cheap thru mail-order?
