When our network was completely 9.7 we had a program to keep track of computer usage. If there were processes running on the node, this and the user would be noted. From this information we were able to gather a cumulative usage of the machines on our network, and what percentage of that time a user would be using. PROBLEM: This past program was basically useless in a mixed network, furthermore, we would like to gather more information than it provided. We would like to record what programs are being run by the user, ( mostly mentor graphics applications), how much time is spent on each, etc. Basically, we have looked into the audit subsystem, and have gained a sense of inadequateness about it. We would like to get some kind of graphical output of all these statistics, (whether it is in an ascii type histogram or graphical output is no matter). QUESTION: Is there some program out there which can handle this? or at least close to this function? A daemon type thing would be best. The mixed OS is a kicker for accumulating the data.
