I've been using DEC products quite a lot - all my programming courses were
on VAXen under VMS, and I'm writing this on a DECstation under Ultrix, but
I know almost nothing about their older machines  - the various PDP's,
DECsystems etc. Also, there seems to have been quite a lot of different
operating systems used on these boxes.

Could someone please give me some information about the older systems, both
hard- and software - in what order were they developed, in which way are 
they related or different and so on (for example, I've seen very little of 
TOPS-20 but it seems to have some similarities with VMS. Are they just 
superficial?) And how many of these old systems are still in use?
