Summary: Looking for recommendations Message-ID: <1990Oct02.163531.29329@pmafire.UUCP> Date: 2 Oct 90 16:35:31 GMT Organization: Surrounded by sagebrush, lava, and mountains in Idaho Lines: 26 I'm interested in hearing anyone's recommendations for ear training software. I've heard of Practica Musica, Perceive, and Listen, but really know nothing about them. Has anyone got any opinions? Are such programs worth it? Mainly, I'm interested in learning to hear melodies and chord progressions, and to be able to transcribe music that I hear. Any music theory I learn along the way (I know some basics) is a plus. I'm not expecting to get perfect pitch in 6 weeks, just expecting to improve my very meager ear. I can read music, play several instruments, and recognize a 12 bar blues progression, if that makes much difference in program recommendations. MIDI capability in a program is a bonus, but lack of MIDI wouldn't necessarily disqualify a program. Send me e-mail, and if there's enough folks who are interested, I'll post a summary.
