Four. >How many are used in the shipped configuration? Two or four. The standard [original] SE is shipped with four 256K SIMMs in place, giving a total of 1 megabyte of RAM. The SE 2/40 is shipped with 2 1-meg SIMMs in place, giving a total of 2 megabytes of RAM. The SIMMs must be replaced in pairs, so the possible memory configurations in an SE are: 256 256 --- --- = 512K RAM 256 256 256 256 = 1024K RAM 1024 1024 --- --- = 2048K RAM 1024 1024 256 256 = 2560K RAM 1024 1024 1024 1024 = 4096K RAM Which are, top to bottom, 1/2, 1, 2, 2.5, and 4 megabytes.
